⚽ Footdle strategy guide: guess the footballer in fewer tries
Proven tactics for every Footdle mode: which first guess to use, how to read the colour feedback and how to crack Career, Photo and Silhouette.
Pick a first guess that splits the field
In Classic, your first guess should give you the most information, not the most likely answer. Choose a player from a big European league, in his mid-twenties, playing midfield for a mid-table club. Almost every attribute will come back amber or with an arrow, which immediately tells you the league, the age range and the position group you should be looking at.
Read the arrows before the colours
Age and shirt number arrows cut the list in half on every guess. If age points up and the number points down, you are usually looking for a veteran who wears a low number — often a defender or a classic number 9. Combine that with the league colour and you can normally name the player by the third or fourth attempt.
Career: start from the rarest club
In Career mode, the big clubs at the end of a path are shared by hundreds of players. The small club at the start is the real fingerprint. A youth spell at Newell's Old Boys, Santos or Ajax narrows things far more than a final stop at Real Madrid. Think about which academies produced stars from that country.
Photo and Silhouette: look at the details
The zoomed photo usually shows a patch of shirt, hair or skin first. Kit colours reveal the club, a captain's armband narrows the pool, and hairstyles are surprisingly distinctive. In Silhouette, focus on posture and build: a tall centre-back and a small winger look nothing alike even in black.
Protect your streak
Your streak only needs one solved puzzle per day. If you are short on time, play Trivia or Club first — they are the fastest — and come back to the harder modes later. Hints unlock after a few misses: using one costs points but never breaks your streak.
